Institute of Science
The Institute of Science, Poona was established in 1956 by Late Shri. Nilkanth Chintaman Joshi alias N.C.Joshi (M.Sc., M.A.) with an object to impart education by means of regular coaching classes in the Science, Commerce Technical and Humanities streams. He was a well known educationist, who spent his entire life in the field of education. He was closely associated with the Pune University for more than six decades . He was the dean of the science faculty, member of senate, and member of academic council for a long time. He was the co-founder of Vidya Mahamandal (The parent institute which runs Apte Prashala, a wellknown school in Pune) He has shared his knowledge and administrative skills by giving consultation in the field of education and number of institutes and NGOs. He was a freedom fighter of Dadara Nagar Haveli Mukti Sangram and also was imprisoned for few months for his participation in freedom struggle.

It is said that higher education plays a vital role in the development of a nation. Considering this, Institute of Science started MBA course under it’s Institute of Business Management & Research (IBMR)in 1984.
For almost seven decades Institute of Science is serving as one of the major institutes in Maharashtra.
